It's the Most Awful Time of the Year

Yep, it is time for the Annual IEP. We have it on Tuesday @ 10 am.

Am I dreading it? Yep. Am I worried? Yep. Am I busy getting my arguments ready? Yep. If any one has any suggestions for me or ideas on goals to add, please feel free to post in the comments. Many of you know the trials & tribulations we are having with eating, bathroom & coats as well as just general school stuff.

To top it off, MM woke up with a high fever today. I am waiting to see what declares itself. Is it strep again or another UTI?

To say I am stressed is an understatement.

Oh no. Oh no on all fronts. I am sorry you're so stressed over the the meeting. I know how much you've struggled with the school. Obviously you've got lots and lots of ++++++ vibes coming your way.

I hope Miss Thing is not getting strep or another UTI. I hope it's just a small bug and it goes away really fast.

Hang in there and you know where to find me!!! Lots of love...

I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you that it goes really well. As a mom of a neurotypical kid and a special educator, I say go in with an open mind. But as a friend who has seen what you have had to deal with, I say go in there with your ducks in a row ready to give it to them.
Surely my advice is of no help. Wish I could go with you if not for help with the situation, just for the support.
Again, good luck and let us know how it goes.

Remember when you go into that meeting that the whole goal is to find the least restrictive environment;and to meet your daughters needs as best as possible. Don't be intimidated by teachers, therapists...Their job in these meetings is to find the cheapest alternatives for their school (system). Yours is to be your daughters voice. You know her and her needs and priorities better than anyone else in the room. If you feel that they are not
'getting" what is best for her you need to set them straight. Politeness helps, but if they are selling manure you have no obligation to buy, because they only see her for a fraction of the day, 5 days a week. If there is an impasse and you strongly disagree you do need to sign the IEP but write on the form that you are signing under protest, that this is not the final word and you strongly disagree with their findings. In fact, in some states (Ma.among others)if you disagree with a specialist's evaluation you can request an independent assessment that the school system must pay for.Good luck God bless Go get them, tiger.
